On the coast of the Region of Murcia lies one of the most popular tourist destinations in our country, but at the same time one of the least known: La Manga .
For decades, we have traveled to this corner of the Costa Cálida to enjoy swimming in those two very different seas that meet along the kilometer-long sandbar that is La Manga.
But that's not all. 11:00 AM: Explore kilometers and kilometers of pristine and deserted beaches
Just before entering La Manga, when the car's GPS indicates a mere 10 minutes to reach the Hotel Galúa , the highway announces a turnoff towards the Calblanque Regional Park . There, the road becomes a dirt track, albeit a well-maintained one, and in less than two minutes it leads us to what has been one of the day's greatest surprises: a pristine paradise of dunes and crystal-clear waters .
The golden sand contrasts with the vegetation that covers the numerous black cliffs protecting up to 5 kilometers of deserted beaches , each one vying to be the most spectacular. Which one do I prefer? Playa Parreño . Located at the southern end of the park, when I arrived at this picture-postcard beach I found myself completely alone, and I felt like I was in a TV documentary or on some kind of reality show. Words can't describe it.
Although the path is very easy, flat, and, frankly, beautiful, getting there requires patience, as the temptation to stop at any of the beaches along the way is very strong. The reward? Finding a piece of the Mediterranean to enjoy in solitude, this paradise that only true travelers can reach. Don't miss it!
2 PM: Recharge your batteries to keep enjoying
Excited to have visited a place like Calblanque , one of those places that, no matter how much you hear about it, surprises and captivates you from the very first moment, I arrived at the Hotel Galúa around 2 pm. The Panoramic Room was waiting for me. And its incomparable views over the " Mar Mayor ," the Mediterranean, make you feel like you're on a cruise ship in the middle of the sea. I would have stayed on the terrace simply gazing at the horizon if hunger hadn't started to gnaw at me . A quick shower and my first visit to the buffet. of the hotel which my colleagues had so often recommended. And yes, I can confirm it: a wide variety of dishes of all kinds, though always inspired by the Mediterranean Diet , from which I chose a freshly made Andalusian gazpacho, the kind that instantly revives you, and several fish dishes that the chef was preparing right there. And for dessert, rice pudding!
After lunch, it was time to recharge, and what better way than in the infinity pool at the Hotel Galúa, where the water blends seamlessly with the Mediterranean . With the thermometer reading 25°C, I even dared to take my first dip of the season in this sunny May. A nap in a hammock overlooking the sea , a stroll along the beach , and my mind was already racing with plans for the next day. Because the options are endless!
7pm: Jump into the Mar Menor on a paddle surf board
The news doesn't do it justice, or at least that's been my experience after traveling several dozen kilometers along the Mar Menor in the area closest to La Manga. This natural wonder, an immense lagoon connected to the Mediterranean , is a must-see. And what better way to explore it than by paddleboarding ?
Simply strolling along the shore at such a special time as sunset is a gift for the senses, as the silence of the lagoon is combined with a palette of golden colors that transform the place into a truly spectacular sight. I'm not exaggerating when I say that the sunset here is one of the most breathtaking on the entire Iberian Peninsula . Judge for yourselves with these photos I took from my surfboard! The Mar Menor is barely moving, and crossing it is an unforgettable experience that fills you with immense peace. I can't think of a better way to end such a special day.
9pm: For many, dinner is the most anticipated moment of the day.
What will the buffet surprise us with tonight? I'm sure everyone who has ever enjoyed a Servigroup hotel knows what I mean by that mix of nerves and anticipation we feel as we head to dinner, imagining and practically salivating over the menu. Every night is different ! I won't tell you everything I ate because it makes me blush. Just three words: dessert special . That was the delicious surprise the chef had in store for us!
Dinner with a sea view , of course, and a great atmosphere in the hotel which, with music, a bar and even a pool table around which a good number of people gathered in an impromptu competition, transports you directly to the summer that is about to begin.
Too much for me after such an active day! Time to rest and just listen to the gentle murmur of the sea in the background . Good night!
9am: Breakfast and back to reality
All good things must come to an end! Luckily, I woke up to a sea view that made even the return to the office more bearable. How quickly the good times pass! But thankfully, you can stay as long as you like . Time for breakfast, back to the office, and to write down everything we experienced so it can inspire your next getaway. Oh! And don't miss the pancakes with chocolate . For me, they're the best in all of Spain!
