The Mediterranean Epic Triathlon is a nationally recognised sporting event hosting both the Spanish Long Distance Triathlon Championship and the Spanish Long Distance Aquabike Championship.
Each year, nearly 6,000 athletes gather in Oropesa del Mar to compete across the different race formats organised during the weekend.

The Mediterranean Epic Triathlon 2026 will take place on Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st May 2026, featuring six races across several disciplines.

The Mediterranean Epic Triathlon is designed to challenge both first-time competitors and elite triathletes alike, offering four race distances and six competition formats through the heart of the Costa Azahar.
The available categories include:
• Full Distance
• Half Distance
• Olympic Distance
• Sprint Distance
• Aquabike Full
• Aquabike Half
The adventure begins on Saturday with the most demanding events, led by the flagship Full Distance race featuring:
• 3.8 km swimming
• 176 km cycling
• 42 km marathon run
Next comes the Half Distance:
• 1.9 km swimming
• 84 km cycling
• 21 km running
The Aquabike Full and Half formats are also available for athletes who prefer to focus on swimming and cycling disciplines.
On Sunday, the competition shifts into high speed with the shorter and more dynamic races:
• Olympic Distance: 1.5 km / 39 km / 10 km
• Sprint Distance: 750 m /19.50 km / 5 km
The entire experience begins in the crystal-clear waters of the Costa Azahar before athletes head inland through a demanding cycling route across Castellón province reaching the town of Cabanes.
Finally, the event concludes with a spectacular run along Morro de Gos Beach, finishing in epic fashion directly in front of the iconic Hotel Koral Beach.
