Mojácar Bowls Club opens in the Hotel Servigroup Marina Playa
On Friday the 7th of March the Mojácar Bowls Club belonging to the Hotel Servigroup Marina Playa. Officailly opened. The event was attended by the town mayor Rosa María Cano, Fernando Aparicio (Sports Councelor), José Fernández (Almeria M.P.), and some club members and managers, as well as other authorities coming from Almeria Province.
The club opened its doors earlier this week with over 30 registered members from Mojácar and the surrounding area.
The outdoor bowling green is situated approx 100 metres from the Hotel, next to Hotel Servigroup Marina Mar, the green is made of special artificial turf and covers an area of 25 x 25 m. It composes of 6 rinks for a capacity of up to 48 players.There is a club house, bar terrace, bowls trolley,markers, bowls, soft drinks, snacks, and toilets.
Mr Ricardo Escudero, director of the area of Mojácar, voted as one of the 15 prettiest spanish towns in 2013, is delighted with the opening of this new club, saying that “this adds to the sports activities already on offer in our hotels in Mojácar”.
Bowls, also known as Lawn bowls, is a sport in which the objective is to roll biased balls so that they stop close to a smaller White ball called a “jack”. This is a very popular game in the U.K, Australia and New Zealand aswell as other English speaking countries.
