A few days earlier, on 24 November 2015, the University of Alicante also presented José María Caballé with an award for his business career. With a Degree in Business Administration and Tourism Studies, José María Caballé began his career in the world of tourism at the age of 18 under the wing of his uncle, who ran a hotel in Calella combining it with his studies in Trade and Tourism. A little time later he became one of the youngest multilingual managers in Spain at a 3-star hotel in Lloret de Mar. In 1970, he relocated to Benidorm to set up what was to become his empire of 17 hotels.
