The British ambassador and other British representatives visit the Hotel Servigroup Calypso
The Calypso Hotel (Benidorm) hosted on February 12th a working lunch attended by the British Ambassador in Spain Simon Manley, the Mayor of Benidorm Agustín Navarro; the British Consul Sarah-Jane Morrison, the British Vice-Consul Lloyd Milen along with tour operators, heads of local and national police and fire department as well as representatives of the hotel.
Previously, a reception took place at the Town hall at 11.00am, followed by a visit to the SATE office, a police office that offers foreign tourists personalised assistance in the event of having been a victim of any criminal offence or incident. During the lunch, those present were also informed of the protocols of the state’s security forces in situations of emergency in the town.
The previous day, February 11th, the British delegation and the Mayor of Benidorm met in Torrevieja along with the Mayor of Torrevieja Eduardo Dolón and other Mayors and Councillors from other municipalities of the Costa Blanca that have a high number of British residents such as Calpe, Jávea, Orihuela, Pilar de la Horadada, Rojales, San Fulgencio, Teulada, Alfàs del Pí as well as the Murcian town of Mazarrón.
The Costa Blanca has 92.000 British residents and Alicante airport attracts more than 10 million passengers each year, of which 40% arrive from Britain.
